Comments for McLean, Don, Solo

"Solo" is one of the finest pieces of work that a person who enjoys Don McLean could ever own. Don McLean is so real in this work, that you can get a authentic feel for how he works with an audience and makes the music come alive. My particular favorites are "Empty Chairs, "And I Love You So", "Cripple Creek/Muleskinner Blues", and of course "Vincent". But the song that far outdistances all others on this CD is "Babylon". I listen to that piece of work and the emotion I feel is overwhelming. Thanks Don for being a great troubadour.

As far as I am concerned Solo is the best album by far. Besides the singing, his talent of playing with words both singing and talking, is how I always will remember Don mcLean. I've seen him 3 times perform in Holland, all off those times were unforgettable. The only pitty is that I never heard him sing on stage his (for me) most beautiful song "Mountains o Mourne" from the album "playin Favorites"

A voice to make Carusoe envious; guitar artistry to make Hendrix burn his guitar; a sense of humour to make Cosby sound like Ronald Reagan

Lovely! I loved it! Yes, sirree! This is one of Don's most powerful and moving recordings. Praise be to him and his children. There is no equal. Even the mighty lord God himself bows before the true master. Don is undoubtedly the finest looking man of his age alive in the world at this very moment. Just the way he's kept that adorable bouffant in tact since 1971 - Gorgeous! Keep up the good work, brother!

I learned to play guitar from Don''s music. There is no one like him. His music touches me and this live performance has got to be the finest album I have ever owned. I wish I could tell you how thrilled I was when I found Solo on a CD on the internet. This is the one album I can listen to ALL of the time and never get tired of. I have a cassette recording of it that I played in my car as I drove around the country as a youth. nearly 20 years later, I still have that cassette and all the memories that go with it. Many thanks to Don for his efforts to record his feelings. Perhaps someday, I might be privileged to return the favor in some small way. He may never fully realize what his music has meant to me. Please come to Salt Lake City to perform!!!??? I saw him once in New Jersey many years ago, and I will never forget that evening.
This double live album was originally released in 1976 by EMI having been recordedat Bristol, Oxford and Manchester, England during the summer of 75 - a tour that was toinclude a record 85000 attendance at Don`s LOndon Hyde Park Concert.
