Comments for McLean, Don, Don McLean

Classic music here; though not quite up to the level of "American Pie" it does have many well written songs. I dont know why "Narcissisma" and "Birthday Song" dont make the Best-of's more often. If you're looking for plenty of great lyrics, this album delivers. Its all acoustic based music, but this works as a detriment to the album as a whole because it makes the album too laid back; though "Dreidel" and "Narcisissma" will get you up and dancing. I give this one an 8, because after hearing it for all these years I am very familiar with the songs and I keep returning to the good ones. Still, I prefer "American Pie" and "Homeless Brother" because those records contain a little more variety, and I can relate to the songs more than I can stuff like "Broco Bill's Lament" and "The More You Pay". Ultimately, though the hit/miss ratio is mediocre, this album has some classic tunes that I keep coming back to because I love them and they mean a lot to me. I can, as a passionate music lover, highly recommend this music to you; thanks Don! SP 11/8/96 Dayton OH USA

I think "Bronco Bill''s Lament" is one of McLean''s best and "The More You Pay" is a damn good song.
Follow up album to enormous success of American Pie best known for Dreidel and its supposed reflection on international superstardom. If We Try and Birthday Song are my personal highlights of this classic album.
