Comments for Art of Noise, The FON Mixes

Imagine my surprise and delight when I say this in my local record shop. "Wow! I've never heard of this one!" The bliss lasted until I got it home and unwrapped it. To say this album is "based" on the Art of Noise is somewhat akin to saying Baco-Bits are based on a pig. It's thump-diddy-thump- diddy techno, which isn't bad in itself, but which ISN'T the AoN we all know and love. I'd say, "Skip it."

ADMIDTLY it IS based on the AON instead of their actual grooves, BUT it IS a very good album.... I think it''s great to listen to a couple funky mixes and interpretations of AON classics. I guess it all comes down to what kind of person you are... if you''d be interested in watching a new Lucasfilm/Speilburg version of IT''S A WONDERFUL LIFE or you''d rather they not mess with tradition. Standing alone, ignoring the fact that these are all based on AON songs, I''d say it''s a VERY good techno album ''cause it''s got some very unique sounds on it that are new to the techno scene and it sounds GREAT when you play it LOUD!!!
Each track is mixed by a different from an Art of Noise tune
