Comments for Metallica, Load

I waited nearly 6 years for their new album but the only thing which is really new is their hair-style. Short hairs and old music. I thought the album would be better

brilliant album,not as good as MOP and AJFA though but still it's a realy great album.

Well, if your a fan of old Metallica your probably greatly dissapointed. The album has a different feel. I like the change. I salute their attempt to play unique and different music, yet don't like all of the songs on their album (2x4 comes to mind). They have some hard-hitting songs reminiscent of old Metallica and mix it up with a few good lighter songs. Overall, I give the album an 8, and am glad I bought it.

At first I thought "Load" couldn't be more appropriate a title, (conjuring up images of a baby's diaper). Then I figured they should have called it "Samson." They lost their hair, they lost their strength. I was disgusted with their attempt at something kinda bluesy (2x4, = Metallica-wanting-to-be- Aerosmith) but the last straw was "Mama Said" which as if the lame title wasn't bad enough featured COUNTRY style guitar licks! Five years ago, they were saying "Who the hell is Garth Brooks?" (Lars quoted on MTV) and now it sounds like they're writing songs for him. Anyway, after repeated listenings, the album is starting to grow on me, but I think this is their first studio album not to render the previous one obsolete. "Kill 'Em All" sounded like a bunch of high school kids compared to "Ride The Lightning." Mater Of Puppets" blew "...Lightning" out of the water, on up through "Metallica" which made "...Justice" sound long winded and overblown. I wasn't sure how they were going to outdo themselves with the next one, and it turns out that they didn't. "Metallica" stays in my CD changer. I'll just put "Cure" and "The Outlaw Torn" on one of my compilation tapes and probably keep "Load" in the CD rack to gather dust. I anticipate an early retirement followed by a "Greatest Hits" album within the next five years. Oh well. At least we still have Pantera!

I think load is a big step forward. There are still tough songs on the album, but the sonic palette has expanded greatly. Wasting My Hate is incredibly catchy and ironic as well. (saving hate for himself) Mama Said is a different sort of song for Metallica, but the important thing is that it's a good, no very good, song. I dig until it sleeps as well. Metallica practically reinvented metal. Don't you think it's time that had permission to try other stuff as well.

This band has sold out more than any other group in existence today. More than U2, more than REM, even more than Jawbreaker. In reference to the title, I think they left "of Shit" part off by accident.

Sell outs. Ok, if that is a problem for you. This album if done by any other band than metallica would get at least a 6 rating from me but I expect alot more from Metallica and this album is pure crap No one should even consider buying this if they are expecting something even remotly like the last 5 albums. This is lighter than `Metallica'(the black album).

Come on people! Load is a terrific album. So what if it's not like the old stuff? There is no way that even Metallica could top the all time classics Puppets and Justice, so why try? There are some good tracks on the new album, and technically, the boys have never sounded better. Hetfield's singing has come a long way. Sounds like most of you haven't played the album LOUD yet. However I cannot accept "Mama Said". Way too country, and everyone agrees that country in any way shape or form SUCKS MY BIG FAT WHITE HAIRY ASS!!!!

The worst "metal" band in the world. Good singer with the most boring rhythm section and worst solo guitarist in the world Two or three riffs for 6 or 7 minutes,doesn't that say it all? Listen to Megadeth or Anthrax instead and you'll now what feel, groove and energy is. Don't be fooled by the fact that they've sold millions of records in the past. They just don't deserve the attention......

I don't know...I thought the album was pretty good. My favorite tunes are "Ain't My Bitch" and "Until It Sleeps" (thats right, "Until It Sleeps"). UIS has a very personal meaning for me...I interpret it as wanting to get rid of bad things in your life. Great disc..great tune.

Huh! look at comments above - pretty controversial, uh? One says it's cool, another says it's shit. Neither, actually. You cannot play the same stuff when you are 20 and when you are 33 (unless you don't have imagination to get out of ruts). If you want to compare it to Aerosmith - the latter played the same stuff throughout 20 years. If you spit at "Mama said", why did you hail "nothing else..." which is much worse? Well, it's mot a hurricane music anymore, that's (Sad But) True. Unfortunately, the band is merging with the droves of hardo-metalo-alternative-ish rockers, but is still recognizeable.

Well it happened. Metallica put out a terrible album. If they were sincere in trying to go completely left field then more power to 'em but the album still sucks. I have followed them since the beginning and I think every album is brilliant Except this one. All the "greats" run out of steam sometime (Led Zeppelin, The Beatles) and Metallica is not immune to that. Everybody puts out a bad record eventually. However I cant help but think this newfound "fashion" sense discovered by Lars and Kirk is here to stay. Thats what i find ridiculous. Maybe the next album will rule but the outlook is grim. I just wish metallica would leave before they become even more silly. They should have taken a lesson from Soundgarden and left when they still had some integrity.

Towards the top of this page, the music category is mentioned to be hard rock. The other day when i was in a music store, I saw Load in the "Alternative" section. It's strange cuz for the last 15 years I thought Metallica was producing metal albums. If I didnt hear James singing, i wouldn't have known this was metallica. Also, not only did they get their hair trimmed, their logo is now cleanly shaven. The protrusions that used to be sticking out of the M and the A are now 1 mm extensions that look like the ink is dripping or something. I mourn for the loss of perhaps the greatest metal band of all time. (Excluding the black album too. Its good but its not metal. Otherwise it wouldn't have gone multi-platinum.)

I don't care that Metallica cut their hair. I don't care that they want to explore new musical territories. I don't care taht Lars and Kirk kiss each other. I dont care that they wear makeup BBBBUUUUUT LOAD STILL SUCKS DICK!!!!!!!!!!! Alot of people dont like this album. There are some good songs on the album and some not so good songs. I still think it is a good album no matter what other people say.
