Comments for Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Sleeps with Angels

E-MAIL: bfw5s@virginia.edu
Rolling Stone gave this album a coveted 5 stars. Have you ever seen an album get 5 stars from Stone? Whether others deserved it or not (I can think of several), this album deserves all the recognition it gets.
Sleeps with Angels is the best album of Neil Young & Crazy Horse`s career. For anybody who thought that Crazy Horse couldn`t handle any more than 3 notes, check this album out (btw, it sounds at least 100x better on vinyl). Each song is a statement in itself, from mourning everybody from the unlucky ("Driveby") to the poor ("Safeway Cart") to the famous ("Sleeps with Angels") to criticizing the materialistic and easily-pleased consumer public, this album speaks louder in its` lyrics alone than most albums since anything substantial from Dylan. The music is incredible, too; The 20 minutes of Change Your Mind/ Blue Eden are worth the price of the album alone. Neil plays some of the best guitar of his life on these songs, better than anyone half his age! This is a classic.
