Comments for B-52's, The, Cosmic Thing

Up to the time that this record was released (1989) The B-52's were basically barely treading water looking for a new hit. The original song that put them into stardom was done in 1979 and Loveshack boosted their success tremendously in the 80's. Up to this time the B-52's had not released a better albu and this is a must by for the funky dance tracks that the B-52's have been made famous for.

The Love Shack is one of the best songs out there, and beyond, but Not many radio stations/Music Video chennel's play the song. Lets try to change that: REQUEST THE LOVE SHACK, BY THE B-52's

I don't know what country macgyver@iglou.co is from (or lives in), but "Love Shack" is the ONLY song any radio station or video channel has ever played. And still plays it I might add. (Every time I turn past VH-1, they're playing it!) Although I love this album, I wish the people who discovered this band with "Cosmic Thing" would go back and take a listen to "Wild Planet", I guarentee that one will knock your socks off.

The B-52's have really not had a better album since this one. Sure, Love Shack is a great song but the album is full of songs just as entertaining!

I heard "Roam" on the radio, when it was released and said to myself, this is the greatest Pop tune since "Love her Madly" by "the Doors". Generally the music is simple and solid. The phrasing and lyrics are thoroughly brilliant. It is free, liberating fun and true art. I'm a dancer, so I hear a lot of tapes and I used to also be a musical performer. I feel guilty as hell for missing out on this group, but I hope they're still together so that I may see them perform. Great dance stuff. Untouchable vocals. I've played it 2 or 3 times a day since I bought it. It gets better the more you listen. I want all of their albums, now. This is art in Pop medium. It is brilliant. I want more. "Topaz" was in a movie, but the title eludes me: it touched me so as to nearly make me weep. Buy this album at least twice.

I sit here shaking my head when I read comments such as those by maychr@moscow.com and bandit99@ix.netcom.com. To even consider this album in the same thought with "The B-52's" or "Wild Planet" is absolutely ludicrous! Let me follow that by saying that I like this CD, "Channel Z" is a great ecological statement, and "Cosmic Thing" is in the vane of what made the B-52's into the "World's Greatest Party Band". But to use the success of "Love Shack" to declare this as the best EVER by the B's? That is insanity! Do a little research people!

"Cosmic Thing" is the B52s most colorful, upbeat, out of this world album! It's the only album you need to take with you to a party!

I really love the B-52''s. I think this album is their greatest--I love LOVE SHACK, ROAM, DEAD BEAT CLUB, BUSHFIRE and TOPAZ. I really think you should also check out their other groovy album, GOOD STUFF. I reccomend it! I love the b-52''s!!!
