A twenty minute piece for choir. Based on a movement from his third string quartet. Written as soundtrack for a TV documentary.

This piece, specially written for the anniversary of the Armenian earthquake disaster, is probaly one of Nyman''s most profound and well structured scores. The later String Quartet No.3 is based on this score but this choral version is certainly the more unique. It builds slowly, never quite reaching a peak, and yet maintaining an air of timeless lamentations. Listeners of Arvo Part amy find a similar concept of tintinabulation here. A beautiful piece of work.
