Comments for R.E.M., Reckoning

THE ULTIMATE R.E.M. ALBUM FOR IMPRESSING DIEHARD FANS.
E-MAIL: joeland@matt.ksu.ksu.edu
*** (5 star scale)-- Yes, I am a die hard fan, but, unlike all of my other die hard friends who probably feel the same as you guys do, I feel that Reckoning is a just "pretty good" album. Granted, it has some gems, such as "So. Central Rain", "Little America", and ironically my favorite REM song "Dont Go Back to Rockville", but I don't feel that it's as consistently good as some of their other efforts. But why all the bitching? We all agree that other band's greatest records aren't half as good as REM's "poorest" ones. --J.teel

not their best album, but sure not their worst. lots of jangly guitar, and that's what makes r.e.m. what they are. "camera" was a song written for their lost friend carol levy who died in a car accident. "little america" was easy to tell that it was about their constant touring from town to town. definitly an enjoyable album.

Since improving on "Murmur" would have been impossible, this album gets a bad rap. I still would take it over the majority of the band's catalog (can you tell I like the jangly guitar sound better?). "Pretty Persuasion" is as much of a rave-up as anything they've recorded.

You guys who are giving this album mediocre reviews are insane! This, along with Murmur, is my favorite r.e.m. album; in fact, I might even have to give Reckoning the edge over Murmur. Besides the classics on here like South Central Rain and Don't Go Back To Rockville, "Camera" is an extraordinary but often-overlooked song, and "Time After Time" is also excellent (among others).

This is an allright album. REM is a good group, but I feel that the best groups ever, are, The Who, and Pink Floyd

A little tougher and more direct than "Murmur", but no less fascinating. Probably their career high point.
R.E.M.`s second full-length LP. Unlike "Murmur", some ofthe vocals are actually comprehensible.

One of my all-time favorites. Not one bad track. Emotional resonance.
