*** (5 star scale)-- Actually a pretty fun compilation of b sides and rarities, and some side aching linear notes from the guy who , contrary to many people's beliefs, is actually the main man of REM, Peter Buck. Also, look for the Chronic Town reissue at the end of the disc. --j.teel

B-Side/remix albums are often my favorite albums from bands. I don't know if this is my favorite R.E.M. album out there, but it ranks up there. A couple less than stellar songs on here, but the variety of the good ones, from the surfish instrumental "White Tornado" to the shrieking "Burning Hell" to my personal favorites, the liqour soaked combination of "Walter's Theme" and "King of the Road" make this a keeper. As someone said above, this also includes Chronic Town, a nice album in its own right. Not something I might reccommend for someone just getting into R.E.M., but if you like them, and you don't own this...go buy it.

King of the Road is a must hear track for all REM listners. Like said above, if you don't own it, go buy it.

once you here "Voice of Harold" you will never listen to "7 Chinese Brothers Again." A must.

Critiquing an album of outtakes is dubious at best. Peter Buck doesn't want to reveal the name of the movie for which they recorded "Windout." They can't hide the truth! It was "Bachelor Party" with Tom Hanks! I still think "Ages of You" should have appeared on "Reckoning."

Mostly crap, but "Burning Down" (a staple of early shows) is one of their greatest tracks. The CD has Chronic Town on it, which is indispensible, so there you go you have to buy it.
