Comments for Raitt, Bonnie, Nick of Time

The title track is something a lot of people can identify with.
The album that really broke Bonnie Raitt, with such songs as"Love Letter", "Have A Heart", and "Thing Called Love"(whichwas originally a John Hiatt song).

After 20 years of cult status, Bonnie finally broke into the mainstream with this great album that shocked everyone, including Bonnie herself, by topping the album charts, going platinum and winning 4 Grammies! This was also the first of a trilogy of albums Bonnie recorded with Don Was at the helm. After numerous failures at contemporizing her sound, Bonnie finally created a slick record that held up better, and with Bonnie now in her 40s, a little smoothness may have been a good idea. The most famous song on here is probably the self-penned title track, which was the beginning of Bonnie discovering her own songwriting talent after spending years as the songwriter's voice. But she still has a keen eye for good material like John Hiatt's Thing Called Love, Bonnie Hayes' Love Letter & Have A Heart, and Mike Reid's Too Soon To Tell (from the guy who would eventually write I Can't Make You Love Me). At an age when most artists' better days will have already passed them by, this album proved that Bonnie's were just beginning.
