Comments for Raitt, Bonnie, Road Tested

Throughout her 25-year career, Bonnie had always been a great live performer, but it wasn't until ROAD TESTED in 1995 that her fans got to hear what she was like on stage. This double album has her reaching back into her vast catalog to recover some old favorites & recent hits. Probably the most interesting cover is that of the Talking Heads' classic, Burning Down The House, which Bonnie does a rather good version of. Bryan Adams' Rock Steady was written especially for Bonnie & while it may have been a little by-the-numbers, it's still an energetic performance on a level with Bryan's classic live duets with Tina Turner. Now that Bonnie was a high-level star after 25 years of hard work, a live album seemed like a natural thing for her. ROAD TESTED managed to do the impossible of creating a live album that gave the listener a feeling of actually being in the audience, but also making it easy to return to time & time again.
