Comments for Baez, Joan, Baptism - A Journey Through Our TimeThis was certainly an ambitious project on the part of Ms. Baez. Apparently, having tiredof standard folk music, she ventured into this collection of poetry-- both spoken and sung-- set to classical accompaniment. Her readings of these pieces are certainly beautiful, but this discdefinitely requires a little more effort on the part of the listener than should be expected. This album changed my life in 1968. It merged indelibly the connection between literature and politics. I could never again see the two as separate, and it planted the seeds of a lifetime of antiwar activism. Even Joan with her X-KE and her clay feet could not alter what she had already done to me with her music.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
