Comments for Rockpile, Seconds of Pleasure

Rockpile was interestine beacuse Dave Edmunds' good natured-ness was the perfect foil for Nick Lowe's smart assed snottiness. This album is way cool!

Rockpile stands as a rock-a-billy supergroup, with both Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds at their best. If you like to dance, their CD/LP (with the accompanying 45) is an instant party.

I agree in essence with the glowing reviews listed herein. However, I'm really trying to get their 1st LP. If someone can get me a lead as to the album's title, label, catalog number, and (heaven forbid) a supplier, please 'mail me! thank You!

Great album! Best live band I've ever seen, and I've seen them all! Nonstop music - if a concert lasted 80 minutes, there would be 79.5 minutes of rip-roaring music and 30 seconds of sipping suds. Don't understand Billy Bremner - he took many of the lead licks in concert and certainly held his own. Terry Williams is a great power drummer who, after being part of Dire Strait's biggest selling record "Brothers In Arms", toured with Dave during the infamous "Dave Edmunds' R & R All-Star Band" tour. This is one band that MUST get back together, even Carlene Carter says that Nick and Dave need each other to reach their respective peaks. Even tho' they have recorded together a couple of times since Rockpile, nothing permanent came of the reunions.Too bad Dave and Nick hate each other so much!

Seconds Of Pleasure is a great release. Nick, Dave, & co. deliver the one two knock out punch song after song. A rock classic and one of the best 100 albums of rock and roll history. If you don't have it, you sure don't get it.

I agree with all of the above comments. "Seconds of Pleasure" is a classic oldies - influenced record, full of kickin' guitar licks and trashy playing. Edmunds and Lowe, along with Williams and Bremner, go great together. If you want to hear more of Dave Edmunds, I suggest all of his albums, mainly "Closer to the Flame", "Tracks On Wax Four", "Twangin'", and "DE7". If you want to hear more of Lowe, listen to "Basher : The Best of Nick Lowe", "The Rose of England" and "Pure Pop for Now People (or "Jesus of Cool"). Peace. Over and out.

"Seconds of Pleasure" is, no denying it, a wonderful album. Of course, had Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds not been feuding at the time, this would''ve been a masterpiece, without flaws.

Saw Rockpile at the Warfield in SF and they brought the house down. SIX encores and then they turned on the house lights and piped in music - unfortunately piped in music was Buddy Holly 'That'll Be The Day' and place went NUTS. Rockpile came out for one more and they STOMPED. They broke up like 2 months later - GREAT SHOW
