Comments for Rush, Presto

***1/2 This is Rush's first album for Atlantic records, after 15 years and 16 albums at Mercury Records. This album shows Rush going back to a more organic approach than their last few records. PRIME CUTS-- "Show Don't Tell", "The Pass", the percussion-obsessed "Scars", "Presto", the funked-odd time signature of "Superconductor", and perhaps one of Rush's finest songs, "Available Light". --J.Teel

Top to bottom, it may be their finest work. The Pass, Anagram (for Mongo), Red Tide, Hand Over Fist, Chain Lightining REALLY stand out. The Pass maybe be Rush's most appreciative song in its history. Its a song that can be heard for many reasons. The instrumental work, especially the keyboards are outstanding. Very underated. Very progressive. Not a bad track exists on it. It needs more play from every rock radio station. Its in my CD-player all the time.

Presto presents a different sound than anything done by Rush before it. They succeed in tracks like Show Don't Tell, Presto, and my favorite from this album, The Pass. The Pass is by far the best song on Presto, and shows both the lyrical and music progression of the band. I like Presto, but I cant get into it as much as their other works - I give it a 7.5.

This is my fourth favorite Rush cd! It has many great songs on it! "Chain Lightning," "Presto," "Hand Over Fist" and "The Pass" are all great, but "Scars," "Anagram," "Red Tide" and "Available Light" are magnificent! In fact, "Available Light" ranks as one of my all-time favorite Rush songs!! This cd is my 22nd favorite overall and definitely worthy of a 9/10!!!

Presto is a fine CD. The bass riffs at the end of Show Don't Tell are way cool. Geddy should do that more often. My only slight problem with this CD is that the great tune The Pass uses a similiar chord progression from Witch Hunt off of MOVING PICTURES(aka the "tom sawyer album" :)

This album marks a high point in the bands songwriting career! I loved Rush's work during what I'd call their "atmospheric stage" (from Power Windows through Presto). This album just puctuates that nicely. The production is top-notch. Three songs that I would put on a personal Rush best-of: "Presto", "Red Tide", and "Available Light". These three are so beautiful, I get chills every time I hear them.

This is one of Rush's finest album's, period. All the songs are fantastic. For me, the standout tracks are the title track, War Paint, Available Light, The Pass, which is probably my all time favorite Rush song, and Anagram, which is one of Rush's best written songs. Great album from top to bottom. 5 stars out of 5, 10/10

I couldn''t agree more with the depresive teacher from NY, The Pass did not save my life, but it does get me high and in a hell of a good mood... The whole album kicks ass !!!
