Comments for Rush, Test for EchoE-MAIL: sac83826@saclink.csus.edu This one's got attitude. Cover a wide spectrum of songwriting and musicianship. Just check out Virtuality, and you'll see. Other hot spots: Resist, Time and Motion, Driven.E-MAIL: cfraser@freenet.hamilton.on.ca Excellent sounding CD. Time and motion reminds me of the permanent waves cd e.g Natural Sciece. Driven and time and motion my favourite tracks. A must for any Rush fanE-MAIL: vauxhall@coqui.net I don't think this one's as goos as Counterparts, but it is refreshing (whether that's a good description for a Rush album remains to be seen)...E-MAIL: swimnut643@aol.com i love this album it is the best!!!!!!! it has the best songs on it and even though Rush has been around forever they still kick assE-MAIL: axon45@rocketmail.com What a huge improvement over "Counterparts!" I am certainly glad that the members took a 3 yr. break! Wow, an awesome return to the Rush of old! After "Counterparts" I wasn't quite certain if one of my favorite bands had bit the dust! This has some absolutely magnificent songs on it: "Time And Motion," "Resist," "Limbo," "Test For Echo," "Half The World," and "The Color Of Right" are all fantastic!! It took me a long time to finally appreciate this cd!! Along, with "Presto" and "Roll The Bones," it is one of Rush's finest cds!!E-MAIL: PizzaTree@aol.com A very good album. This one made me rethink my opinion of the band after Counterparts. "Resist" is a very touching and powerful song. "Driven" is also excellent, and sounds like a hold-over from his sessions on his Victor project. Overall, a very solid and gritty album.E-MAIL: marc.v.com E-MAIL: marc.v.com driven the absolute best... in the same league as their all time best This is probably Rush`s best album since Hold Your Fire. After taking a three-year hiatus (the longest in the band`s history), Rush`s fans were starting to get restless. Well fear not; the new album`s out, and it was well worth the wait.During the band`s time off, each member did their own thing.Geddy spent time with his family, Alex worked on a side projectwith his son, and Neil produced a tribute album to jazz drummer Buddy Rich and... took drum lessons(!!!). All in all their efforts payed off. From the opening track "Test for Echo" to "Carve Away the Stone" the album explores new areas for Rush, but also revisits old ones. This is the first album in a long time which they`ve writtenusing only bass, guitar, and drums. (Keyboards are still used, but only as a supplement to the other instruments.) Neil`splaying has noticeably improved. I know he was amazing before, but wait til you hear this. (His solo on the tour is much better as well.) The bass and guitar have a fatter sound, and take on a grittier feel. The lyrics (as always) are wellwritten and well sung. "Resist" and "Totem" are two of the best in this area IMHO. So for those of you who said thatRush`s new stuff isn`t any good, give TFE a listen. It`snot as good as 2112 or Moving Pictures, but it holds its ownbetter than RTB and other such albums.BLAH BLAH BLAH SO MUCH BETTER THAN COUNTERPARTS!!!!!!!!!!! 7/10 *******Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
