Comments for Schickele, Peter, Portrait of P.D.Q. Bach

I regard Peter Schickele as one of the funniest people on theface of the planet. Add to that his musical brilliance and youget an individual only produced every other century. (Maybethat`s good.) In any event, this is a collection of worksattributed to P.D.Q. Bach, and if you don`t know the jokes aboutthis, it`s worthless to explain.As for this particular album, it is not Schickele`s best. Aprevious best-of album "The Wurst of P.D.Q. Bach" showed moreearly brilliance. That`s not to say that this album is withoutit`s yucks, but a good chunk of them come from Shickele`smonologues. The humor in the music takes more work. I dearlylove this material, but if you`re new to P.D.Q., check out the"Wurst of" first. This album is a 5 on a 10 scale.
