Good example of how the new 90's style American ska bands can mix it up with the sounds of the old 60's Jamaican stuff and actually make it sound good. Several of the songs are instrumental, or at least semi-instrumental, but both they and the vocal tracks are incredible. I first heard the album about three months ago when I went back to Puerto Rico, and I was amazed with the musical talent that the band has. Also from what I hear, they're a great live band as well.E-MAIL: JCHINO@INDIANA.EDU Cool Band, and the best live. This albumn has a really great cover of the theme from pee wee's big adventure. New stuff coming out in the form of a CD: "Ska in Hi Fi" also have stuff on the new Ska the Third Wave compilation a great intro to newcomers to the 90's ska scene. Check 'em out!E-MAIL: felton@uclink2.berkeley.edu probably the best ska album recorded in the past ten years...E-MAIL: tbone@iac.net They just fucking rule.E-MAIL: rein0065 Never heard the band myself, but definitly plan to. A friend in Long Island saw them a coupla weeks ago and said that they rocked. . .and he doesn't even like ska. Go figure, eh?E-MAIL: wlester@pigseye.kennesaw.edu the scofflaws are the first ska band i ever heard, and needless to say, i've loved ska ever since!! these guys are incredible and really know how to make excellent music!! if you haven't heard them it's is worth your money to invest, I promise!!!!!E-MAIL: mkhehir@phoenix.princeton.edu The Flaws are the coolest band around!!! I've seen them countless times in their and my hometown of Huuntington. Best song is Ska-la-carte. Richard "Sammie" used to be my busdriver when I was in elementary school. He was cool as crap, always letting us sit on the railings. He even used to play the sax for us. As a matter of fact, he went to my 2nd grade birthday party. He brouhgt me a Corgi replica of the Batmobile and played the sax for my friends. All in all, a cool guy and great band. I love 'em. Pysched for the Scofflaws foam party this summer! Mike "Hehirpiece"E-MAIL: lorry@ext.usu.edu I live in Logan Utah, so I haven't seen these guys live yet but it is definetely something that I will do the first chance I get. They play ska the way it should be played, rude and smooth. Love the horns!E-MAIL: kdennis@montgomery.com The only Ska band I''ve ever seen and if stays that way I will die a happy man. The albums are great but you gotta see them live. From Huntington, Long Island, and playing at Scaboovee 2The Scofflaws are a slick ska group with a slow, smoothbeat.Ricard Brooks: Tenor Sax, Lead VocalsMike Drance: Baritone Sax, Lead VocalsPaul Gebhardt: Alto SaxVictor Rice: BassKerry Lafferty: PianoBrian Lavan: GuitarTony Mason: DrumsBuford O`Sullivan: TromboneThe ScofflawsPO Box 802Huntington, NY11743-0802Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
