REM by numbers . . . don't bother

Somewhat overrated, but ALL of Lou's contributions are TOTAL GODHEAD, and a couple of Eric's (who i usually don't care for) songs are great.

Lou Barlow of Sebadoh used to be in Dinosaur Jr. Rightbefore Dino Jr. got signed to a major, Lou left the band,after a falling out with J. Mascis. Frankly, we are allvery fortunate that Lou left, as Sebadoh has sinceproduced a number of stunning albums.Sebadoh is Lou, Eric Gaffney, and Jason Loewenstein. Allthree take turns singing and playing guitar, bass and drums.Generally, whoever wrote the song plays guitar and sings.Each person has his own style. Lou`s songs are usuallyemotional, sad tracks about loneliness, lost love,masturbation, drugs, etc. Jason`s topics seem to bemainly drug and sex related, and I usually can`t figure out what Eric`s talking about. Lou`s responsiblefor the quiet, tear-jerker songs, and Eric mostly writeswhacked-out loud screaming guitar numbers. But Sebadohwould not be as tremendous as they are if any one ofthe three left; it`s as if the various extremes add upto a balanced whole.Tracks 4, 10, 14, 19, and 23 are by Eric.Tracks 11-13 are by Jason.Tracks 1, 3, 6-8, 15-18, and 20-22 are by Lou.Track 5 is by Eric and Lou.Track 2 is a Minutemen cover.Track 9 is a cover of someone named Raleigh-Edwards.
