Comments for Barclay James Harvest, Caught In The Light

This album is very modern sounding and uses a lot of keyboard and synthesiser sounds for the basis of most of the songs, whether by Les or John. The two opening songs are great and connect together nicely (something this album does in several places) but overall the songs tend to be too long and have fairly repetitive music, especially some of the programmed sequencing. "Spud U Like" breaks through the ballady pattern of most of the material with a fine pop sensibility (if satirical in nature). Les''s bass isn''t much in evidence and John''s guitar only surfaces spasmodically. Some nice touches for sure (such as Les''s nylon string work) but altogether a bit too down-beat. However, worth owning for BJH fans and in places very good. (Ian C. Thomas)
Good Album for B.J.H. fans
