Comments for Shudder To Think, Pony Express Record

This is one of the best albums I've heard. The music and lyrics are great. I first heard the album in Anaheim, California. This band seems to have a great impact on young adults from California.

Shudder is one of the best bands to come out of th D.C. area in a long time. Craig is a powerful singer, who uses his years of opera training well. Adam's drumming skill, carried over from his time with Jawbox, add mood and tempo to the somtimes unrhythmic tunes. Nathan and Stuart add that extra touch that would be missing without them. Each of these people help the band in their own way. Early Shudder, with members Chris Matthews, and Mike Russell, is also worth a good listen. Their early albums, Get Your Goat, Tenspot, and Funeral At The Movies, happen to be some of the bands best works. They are powerful, harmonic, beautiful, and some of the best music I have ever heard.

I RECENTLY SAW SHUDDER LIVE AND WAS JUST TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY. THEY PLAYED MOSTLY NEW SONGS. IF ANYTHING BEYOND 4/4 CONFUSES YOU TOO MUCH THEN DON'T BUY THIS.

They''re an incredible band that has definitely grown since their departure from Dischord Records. I think that they really came into their own around the time of GET YOUR GOAT, which is on Dishcord. They really developed a great balance of beauty AND dissonance. Since Nathan Larson has joined on guitar, the songs have become even stronger and otherworldly. He''s perhaps the greatest guitarist breathing (besides Caspar Brotzmann). And, he''s still got a knack for writing great, catchy songs--that don''t have the prerequisite traditional "hooks" and "melodies." Need more proof? Check out his side band Mind Science Of The Mind (also on Epic).
This stuff just blows me away. Some of the best vocals I`veever heard.
