Comments for Siberry, Jane, Jane Siberry

For those who love Jane's songwriting, this album is a great look at her roots. The "Siberry Sound" is here, but rendered in accoustic instruments. *Marco Polo* is the only dud here, the rest of the songs are top notch. She writes very clear stories in compositions. Lyrically she is as diliberate and direct as she has ever been. My favorite album, only because it seems not to be well known, even among fans. In America it is/was available through East Side Digital on CD and Cassette (that's how I got my copy.

More straightforward than her later material, though with no shortage of trademark quirks, this is Siberry's best album.

Consumer alert! When I first bought this album on CD in 1991, I got a manufacturing defect; the album was recorded too fast, and Jane sounded squeaky and in a hurry. All copies in the store at the time had the same problem; by 1993, the problem was fixed. If buying used, make sure the total time is 37:54 or thereabouts.
