Comments for Siouxsie And The Banshees, The Rapture

After buying this album and listening to it, I put it aside with some disgust and didn't listen to if for about a month. I don't know if it was the mood I was in at the time, or what, but now that I have actually listened to it I have reevaluated my previous opinion. Although more produced than any previous Siouxsie album, this one has the familiar haunting lyrics and melancholy tone, spruced abit by poppish songs like "O'Baby" and "Star Gazing".

This is a gorgeous album, and I don't quite understand why it confused so many fans. It is a CLASSIC sounding album, free from all the faults of its predecessor Superstition! The whole sound is raw, stripped down and simple. Siouxsie has said that most of it was done live, and this gives the whole thing a more intense feeling. So it's quite perfect as the swansong of this extraordinary band! Although I've yet to get over their split!

I must confess, I thought that i''d made a mistake buying this album,at first!! but the tracks stargazer and The Rapture are now firm favourites of mine.
