At first I kind of regretted to have bought it, but it turned out to be very good, especially "Bury me".

This album is the closest thing to god that I have found. I think many people have written them off for whatever reason but they need to take a listen to this album. Every guitarist should have a keen ear for this album because billy corgan can really do some amazing things via layering. Trust me and go out and get it!

corgan demanded his first album be released on an indie label... this is really a division of the company his Siamese dream was on... a thought out "rebel."

Gish is true Pumpkin fare, combining hard crunch and honey coated bliss. Some of their best songs ever are here, namely Rhinoceros, Crush, and Suffer. If you are looking at buying this because you liked Siamese Dream, get out and buy it. There is a slightly more rock-ish feel to Gish, which makes it all the better. The songs on it are along the lines of Soma, Hummer, and Mayonaise, and like anything done by the Pumpkins is worth thirty times the sticker price . K.W.

Smashiing! This is my favorite Pumkins album.

At a time when most artists are unable to break the crusty, boring mold of standard guitar, bass, and drum formula, the pumpkins reinvent sampling and dubbing techniques to create an album finally worth the 40 minutes of listening.

An incredible album. Anything by the Pumpkins has its own particular appeal, and on Gish, it's the sheer frenzy of it. Even in this, their most 'rock-ish' album to date, there are many slow, sensitive moments. This mixture is what makes the Pumpkins such a great band. 'Rhinoceros' and 'Bury Me' are highlights, in my humble opinion.

This album was done quite well also. I'm particularly impressed when D'arcy does the sing for that one song. They have shown to be a band full of surprises. I can't wait for Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness

Check out "Window Paine"!!!

I think Gish was a really good start for SP, and that they have (had?) a lot of creative energy on this album. Though they're *instrumentally* better now, I think that Gish has the most raw power out of any of their albums. The only problem I have is that it tends to get a *little* repetitive after you're about 3/4ths the way through the album. But not for long ... Window Paine and Daydream put a nice finish on the album.

just making sure that you all have heard the 'secret song' at the end of this record. just let the last song keep playing and you'll hear billy come out with some odd sort of stuff for a minute or two. best songs? probably rhinoceros, crush and suffer, but I really like 'em all. jimmy and james are both masterminds.

Despite what you might have read earlier, the Pumpkins "instrumentally" were just as proficient as their latter efforts, and their energy and originality peaked at that time. Gish is no experiment or demo forcasting later success, it's the real deal. It takes you in, and puts you in a trance for 40 minutes just like SD. It's popularity was small not because it wasn't a masterpiece, but instead because it was a little ahead of its time, and because it lacks a radio- assessible single like Today or Disarm. If you like the Smashing Pumpkins, you WILL like Gish.

I bought GISH in '91 knowing nothing about the band, I had never heard of them at that point. I saw a display for GISH and there was a review of it posted saying that it was a great new band so i figured id give them a try. I am glad i did, the album is a classic i feel that it is one of the best CD purchases i have ever made. Also, It is the only CD that i have ever bought without know anything about it or ever hearing a song from it to this day. I feel very fortunate to have a copy of the original pressing. When many other cds have come through of my collection, GISH will always be a part of it, it is a staple item. My personal favorite track on GISH is rhinoceros. I can't say enough good things about Gish, it sends chills up my spine when i listen to it. CAN YOU TELL I LIKE IT?

This album is really good, some people do not like it but thats just because they never took the phuqing time to listen to it.

First 5 songs Are Great, but the rest of the album is weak.
First album release from this Chicago foursome. Gish was remastered and re-released on October 4, 1994.
