This album seemed a little disjointed at first (and it is compared to the smooth flow of the first two albums), but it gets better and better with each additional listen. At this point, I love it just as much as the other two albums.

One of the best albums of 1994. The first time I heard "Whir" I cried. Landslide is an excellent remake of that Fleetwood Mac song. James Iha does a killer job singing on one of the songs- see if you can figure out which one!

The fact that these songs are of such high quality is a testament to the talent in this band. Obscured and Whir capture the essence of Smashing Pumpkins, and for them alone the album is worth checking out. The album isn't as good overall as Gish or Siamese Dream, but judged on it's merits as a b-side compilation, it is incredible. S.P. fans will relish the album, and it still smokes anything else out there from 1994. If any other band released a b-side compilation of this quality, it would sell a billion copies....K.W.....

How is it that a band can release an album of b-sides, and be comparable to the original major releases? this is a testament to the songwriting of billy and james. It just amazes me that this collection of b-sides can be as good as 'real' albums from other bands. Look for the tracks 'hello kitty kat', 'obscured' and 'la dolly vita', among others.

The real testament to the songwriting talent of this band is that the slow, gentle songs have just as much power and emotion behind them as the harder, more "driven" songs. Listen to "Soothe" or "Landslide" (ok, so they didn't actually WRITE that one, but bear with me...) a few times and you'll see what I mean.

Just fantastic!

It was OK but not as good as Siamese Dream That is the best one of all time. Frail and Bedazzled as well as Landslide are the definite highlights of the album.

I would call this their best album, but it's more of a compilation. I love the way the album begins and ends on a soft note ... I love most, if not all of the tracks, though I think Starla's a bit much. I do like the solo, in fact, I think it's one of the high points on the album (alongside the end of La Dolly Vita), but doesn't it just seem to go on forever? I guess sometimes that's not such a bad thing, if you're in the mood for it.

To be Frank [which I am :)] this album is, well, you could say not-too-good. But it's SP after all, so who cares? "Soothe" is brilliant, as is the Siamese outtakes as a whole. But there is some serious crap here too!!

I really like the title of this album and the cover is a very trippy color. This one is full of all the pretty, sweet songs. I like Obscured and Starla the best.
All tracks are b-sides from Gish and Siamese Dream CD singles except for Frail and Bedazzled, Whir, and Spaced which were previousl unreleased. Landslide is a Fleetwood Mac cover. Girl Named Sandoz is an Animals cover. La Dolly Vita appears as the b-side of the Tristessa 7" released on Sub Pop Records in 1990.
