Comments for Soundgarden, Superunknown

The worst Soundgarden album. Where's Kim? I think he's Chris' roadie. Chris might as well play lead guitar and have Kim pick up the microphone when it falls while on tour. If you want to hear real Soundgarden, get _Screaming Life/ Fopp_ or _Ultramega OK_. I can't figure out why the critics appraised _Superunknown_ and even "Black Hole Sun". What a terrible, non-Soundgarden song.

Let's Rock. This is a superb album. Buy it or else!!

this is the best album in the world, the track "black hole bast" is #1!

Superunknown is one of the best CDs of the year. Cornell's writing shows a dramatic change as he incorporates more feeling and emotion into the lyrics and singing. Cameron shows off a much toned down style of drumming which also adds to the albums emotional tone. Kim Thayil pushes through fantastic solos while bassist Shepherd provides a mean back- ground that move the songs along smoothly. Overall, the best Soundgarden to date! Jeremy Crocker

This is a great CD! And don't worry Soundgarden, even if the Grammys didn't consider you heavymetal, everyone else thinks you are.

Superunknown is by far the best performance put on by Cornell. He has developed his "head" voice to the fullest and sounds unbelievable. His style by far has matured since the Sreaming Life Days! Louder Love Later, Paul Callen

Tatiana Patitz, (or Kate Moss or Claudia Schiffer or y'know some hot-shot Top Model) said its her fave album. This unfortunately sums it up.A part of media hype,an MTV Europe favourite ("Black Hole Sun" is squeezed between The Prodigy and Levis TV commercials),this is considered "artistic" hard rock and has "sophisticated" 20-year-old babes dressed in 70's clothes dancing to it.Where's the dirt gone boys? It's still a good album but PLEASE play Death Metal on the next OK?

The most consistent-sounding SG album to date. The others are still great, but the sound is spotty to me. Although I have learned to despise "Bung Hole Sun" as much as those who despise SG as a group for even recording this song, I still think that "The Day I Tried to Live", "4th of July", "Fell on Black Days", "Fresh Tendrils", "Like Suicide," etc. are unmatched by ANYTHING else out there on shelves today. I can't get tired of this album no matter how much or how loud I play it. A must-buy, and best album of 1994. Dan

Superunknown is one of the best albums to come out in the past ten years. I would rate it with Nirvana's "Nevermind" as a landmark for music.

Great album, check out the older stuff too. Can't stop playing them.
E-MAIL: eagleeye@rhf.bradley.edu
This is not a great Soundgarden release, and every single is way overplayed. I'm sick of Black Hole Sun, and Fell On Black Days! STOP PLAYING THEM!!! Spoonman is the only descent cut of this disc.

I love this album....but I don't think it is as good as 'Nevermind" or "Ten"...Still, it's great to have all of these bands get the recognition they truely deserve!!!!

Superunknown is one of if not the best album's I have ever heard. The band took risks on this album, but it paid off. I think it is a travisty that Superunknown lost the Grammy for Best Rock Album to the Stones Voodo Lounge! I hope Soundgarden comes out with another ground breaking album soon and that they get the good recognition thet deserve!

Superunknown is by far the best Soungarden album to date. Fell on Black Days is a great song that can be matched by no others on the album. However, Metallica is still the greatest band to ever walk the face of the earth, but Soungarden certainly stated a claim with Superunknown.

E-MAIL: daisy@shasta.com
right on for all those people who said it was SG best yet you people RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
E-MAIL: wsj@azstarnet.com
noooo you people are stupid. I miss hiromoto...:(
E-MAIL: moondruid@aol.com
What ARE you people talking about??? I'm a little upset that we have people that are comparing Soundgarden to Pearl Jam and Nirvana!!! I also feel that Black Hole Sun is an OK tune, although far overplayed and now a poser song. The best on here is either Limo Wreck or 4th of July. Great guitar...Chris. What about Kim? Isn't HE lead guitar. "Hey, Kim, wake up...you have a solo!"
E-MAIL: kenjp@aol.com
This IS Soundgarden's best release to date. Anyone that thinks otherwise is an idiot. For those of you who think that any of the songs on the album are overplayed, there is a little dial or switch on your radio that says "OFF". Try using it, and stop complaining.
E-MAIL: irie479338@aol.com
dude... this album rules!!! i loved it so much, i am gonna break something!

If you don't like black hole sun then don't listen to it! It's still a fantastically written song, no matter how many times you have heard it. Superunknown is certainly my choice as album of 1994.
E-MAIL: s327857@student.uq.edu.au
All their albums are great, but this is the first album of any band that I would want in my collection (DID). Fourth of July kicks ass, in fact the whole album does. It's hard to find fault with it. All I can say is keep Ben Shepherd's songwriting chained up to avoid anymore Half's.
E-MAIL: killham@lps.esu18.k12.ne.us
This is the first Soundgarden album that I ever bought. Black Hole Sun isn't a bad song, it's just really, really, really overplayed, especially in my city where the Top 40 station plays it just to be hip. Unless you've been under a rock for the past year, you have heard just about half of the songs on this album on the radio. I would definitely recommend it to a newer Soundgarden fan who isn't ready for their heavier stuff yet. Chris Cornell still has the coolest screams in the business!
E-MAIL: m.johnson@unsw.edu.au
"one of the best albums......like nevermind"??? All good tracks, but the hype and polish kind of kills is.... I think its sad that everyone gets old and *puke* mature....

Welcome to alt.music.superunknown. (Where's the FAQ Jack?)
E-MAIL: msimpson@is.dal.ca
Obviously more mainstream, SuperUnknown, is more geared to radio-play. Still great song-writing. Also good variety of sounds

SUPERUNKNOW IS REALLY THE BETTER ALBUM OF SOUNDGARDEN.SOME SONGS DENY THE AMERICAN WAY (IT'S OK), AND THERE IS A VERY GOOD AMBIANCE.THE SUPERUNKNOW's LYRICS ARE BETTER AS BADMOTORFINGER's LYRICS. BUT IT COULD BE MORE EQUAL.IT's FAR AWAY BEHIND "TEN" OF PEARL JAM.

My friend and I discussed that Fourth of July is about Branch Davidian in Waco. Anyone agree?
E-MAIL: Rusty@aol.com
Shut up!! Who cares? Soundgarden's always been good now drop it.
E-MAIL: Ali@Worldnet.att.net
I agree with Rusty@aol.com Who really cares whether or not SupUN is as good as BMF or Fopp. Big deal. The record is excellent and I doubt that SG means for all of their albums to sound the same as the last release, which is what any band should be doing. Growing with each album they release. Damn, how long can you stay heavy before even that gets old. Keep up the good work SG, I still luv Ya!!!!!!!!!

awesome album. what's up with this big type thing??
E-MAIL: ca3596@webtv.net
the best hard rock album of all time!
E-MAIL: airborn@nr.infi.net
This album rocks! I wish that SG could have left out Black Hole Sun, which I believe to be their worst song ever written (other than Circle of Power). I do appreciate the fact that SG provides their fan ot of music, unlike other bands who might put eight or nine songs on an album. The songs Mailman, Spoonman, and Fourth of July are some of the most kick ass songs ever. SG RULZ!
E-MAIL: chrish@econ.ucsb.edu
The repetitiveness of Black Hole Sun and Spoonman make me feel just Like Suicide. Overall too slick and commercial. If I want lame-o top 40 songs with user friendly hooks I can go buy a CD from one of the million alterna-pop bands floating around. Limo wreck and Day I tried to Live good so it wasn't a complete waste. Badmotorfinger was better. At least there the repetitive songs were loud.

Good record.Nothing against it.But why does Mr.Cornell sound constipated?
E-MAIL: e1307@fie.us.es
E-MAIL: gingus12@frontiernet.net
You''ll want to play this one over and over again, just like everything else soundgarden puts out. There is not a weak point to this album, It rocks all the way through.
Not listened to it yet... but hopefully as good as the last releases!
i love this album,it's like it was written 4 me
