Comments for Steely Dan, Aja

One of their most popular albums, this album contains perhaps their biggest hit, "Peg". Standouts tracks include "Aja" and "Deacon Blues". Drumming tour de force by Steve Gadd on the title track, with an amazing bass line from Chuck Rainey on "Peg".

The Steely Dan tour de force,Aja is the Dan's masterpiece. Successfully blending their pop instincts with jazz influences, Becker and Fagen have created music that twenty years later still sound refreshing and inspired. The title track may be the finest pop song ever created. "Peg", with dancing guitar and tight rythms will forever remain in your consciousness. The heavy groove laid out on the opening of "Black Cow" declares that the boys making this record mean business. An all-star cast of session players lend not only their skills, but also a legitimacy of what Steely Dan wanted to do with this magnificent record. A record not to be missed.

I firmly believe this to be the greatest album ever recorded. It ranks among Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and Pet Shop Boys "Behavior."

This was the first Steely Dan album I ever heard, and the cool, jazz-influenced sounds are as vivid and new to me today as they were then. "Deacon Blues" is one of my all-time favorite songs (in fact, it's the reason I root for Alabama), and "Home at Last" is one of the band's most underrated songs.

Just checking to make sure the comments and rating were on the money. One of the finest albums from any decade. My work here is done.

The best damned album in the world! No wonder it was their most popular. ''Aja'' is one of my favourite songs, and the whole album invokes a feeling that I can''t describe. The Dan at their best.

I remember listening to this album when it first came out. Those were the college days. I pulled it out the other day and my son just flipped out. He's part of the hip-hop generation. Now all of his friends have bought it and complain that it isn't long enough. We have a lot in common now.

Fantastic allbum. proving that good music is timeless. I can listem to the title track all day. Beautiful chord progressions, drum solo, sax, and harmonies. I only wish Donald Fagan produced a little more output these days...but I guess quality is always better than quantity.
