Comments for Strait, George, Pure Country

George is one of the great country singers. As someone said this is the sound track to the movie and I personally think that you get more out of the soundtrack if you have seen the movie. It is out on video now. I hate to contradict the other person but this was not george Straits debut movie. H e had a small part in a movie a long time ago.

George's acting debut was average, but this album was one of the most complete George Strait collections.

After listening to this album numerous times and viewing the movie at least 10 times I think George should do another film in the same direction. Pure Country remains my favorite Strait albums after countless listenings. The album signals the addition of a new writer for Strait, namely Jim Lauderdale. Lauderdale's infectious Where the Sidewalk Ends, and classy The King of Broken Hearts (a song written about George Jones) are two of the most powerful songs on the album. My favorite song is track #2, Baby Your Baby, whose simplicity and sincerity elevates it to a higher level. In respect to the movie, I really enjoyed it. In respect to the album, its one of the best of the 90s and is a must for every collection.

A decent album, but as for the acting debut...Let''s just say he should stick to singing.
