Comments for Strait, George, Strait Out of The Box

E-MAIL: dsb133@mail.usask.ca
The Strait out of the Box collection exemplifies the class act George Strait has established homself as in the country music industry. To hardcore Strait fans Disc One and Disc Four are of primary interest. Disc One includes 4 songs that were written by Strait, an oddity for this artist. The first three songs were recorded in the late 70s on D Records. The best of the three is That Doesn''t Change but none of three are outstanding. The fourth song penned by Strait is the old standard I Can''t See Texas which stands the test of time very well. When I put this disc in my player the first song I play tends to be Any Old Love, a song that unfortunately waas never released but definitely should have been. Another great unreleased song on disc one is What Would Your Memory Do. Disc one is a solid piece of entertainment worthy of any true country fan''s collection. Disc 2 & 3 are classic Strait. On disc two Strait includes A Six Pack To Go, which you may have seen him do live. Disc Four displays Strait''s newest offerings. The duet with Frank Sinatra shows why Strait should treat his fans to an entire album of big band swing. The song is infectious and Strait overpowers the heralded voice of Sinatra. The two new songs, Check and I Know, are solid songs that are receiving well deserved airplay. Overall, though I already own 17 Strait albums I find that the box set is an excellent buy for both the long time fan such as myself, and also for people just discovering the immense talent of George Strait.
