Comments for Stryper, Against the LawE-MAIL: kd7460@albnyvms.bitnet Be careful about giving this a good review. It *did* cause their downfall and eventual moral failure. Ny the way, lead singer Michael English has a new CD out on Benson Records. It contains what Stryper did best-- Christian oriented rock.E-MAIL: cjy925@iserve1.infj.ulst.ac.uk Good album, but the lyrics could be a little more focused. Nice nonetheless. The above comment got the name of the singer wrong - it's Michael Sweet. He does have a solo album, much more mellow than Stryper. Great album, this one truly reflected their talent. It in NO way caused their "downfall". What downfall, Micheal Sweet left the band intentionally to pursue a solo career. As for a "moral downfall" - we have no evidence of this, only some legalistic short-sighted christians who love to put themselves in the judgement seat of other christians when there's no justification.E-MAIL: dogman@mail.goldengate.net Agenst the law was not the best CD. Soildiers was the best musically as well as lyrically. I agree thet Michael did want to do a solo career but when on his independent tour of his first solo CD he stated that stryper got to mainstreem and they (he did not say who) were drinking again. So they fell during the Angenst the law CD but it did not cause the downfall.E-MAIL: jcline@Pigseye.Kennesaw.edu Micheal Sweet's 'Christian' solo videos look like soft porn. He should stop trying to look pretty and get back with Stryper to make good music. That girl music he makes now is a flawwed concept. Girls never liked their music in the first place. As for Against the Law, apart from being high concept, nothing but "Rock the Hell Out of You" and "Two Bodies (One Mind One Soul)" were very inspired. Okay, Shining Star WAS a good cover.E-MAIL: hwalters@cornerstone.edu Michael Sweet has a new album out now called "Real". It is more accoustic rock than his first CD. Robert Sweet is in a band called King James. There is a rumored reunion in the making, but that is unlikely. This album is very good musically. However, they were going through a bad period and even have admitted to putting God "on the shelf" during this time.E-MAIL: ywamreg@netrix.net(ywam) this album like all the others rocks my world. there will never be another band that will ever come close to the impact that stryper had on christian hard-rock !!!E-MAIL: gdl One of Stryper`s best albums, though the lyrics are different from their first albums.E-MAIL: kat@citynet.net Against The Law is a good CD, however, To Hell With The Devil and Soldiers are still my favorite. PS: this to the guys out there who do not think "girls" like Stryper or hard rock music, I am 30yrs old and have beem a Stryper fan from the beginning.E-MAIL: 802936047@rumac.upr.clu.edu Just because the lyrics on this album are not blown-out Christian doesn't imply a "moral downfall". Do you have to bluntly state what you are and whoo you are eveyrtime you speak? NO. These lyrics are Christian, in the sense that they reflect Christian morality... I think it's one of their best ones...E-MAIL: CHRISCOXX@HOTMAIL.COM IN MY OPINION ANYTHING STRYPER DID WAS AWESOME SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY WERE SINGING ABOUT MORAL GOOD THINGS AND NOT BAD THINGS LIKE METALLICA AND MARILYN MANSON . LET GOD BE THE JUDGE OF THEIR CHARACTER NOT YOU.E-MAIL: cham@iinc.com "Against the Law" is easily Stryper's best sounding album. Even though it was released seven years ago, it still sounds fresh upon every listen. As for the lyrics, Stryper were just writing what they felt at the time...is there anything wrong with being honest?E-MAIL: s_clark22@hotmail.com I thought that the album was great. Personally I don''t believe that it caused their downfall. This album came after a period in which Stryper decided ona change of sound. It is definitely one of their best albumsalthough it could have brought about the downfall of the band who were accused of denying their faith and pursuingmore mainstream success.Comments supplied by users do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Roadkill Consulting, Inc. |
