The American version adds a hidden bonus track called "Modern Boys", but it's no bonus. This may be the best album of the '90s so far..."Asphalt World" and "The Still Life" tear me up like no other songs I can think of right now.

Bigger, Cleverer, more experimental, more crafted, and better than the first album

"Modern Boys" is indeed a bonus, one of their better B-sides.

Guitarist Bernard Butler who played and wrote the music on this album is no longer with the band. The new guitarist, Richard Oakes, has been touring with the band. While Oakes can play the old songs in concert, his song writing is not nearly as good as Butler's abilities. However, he has shown some potential in a few new songs co-written with lead singer Brett Anderson. Suede has faired well since Butler's departure, so far...

One of the best albums I have ever heard, the best album of 1994 and as well as first by Tindersticks one of the best albums of 90's.So many 'best',but it does deserve all these labels. Kirill

Just something I would clarifying regarding Bernard Butler. I heard that he has just recorded a song with the former lead singer of Orange Juice Cans (or something similar). The song is allegedly called "In a Nutshell". Can anyone shed any light on this - I'm not sure how reliable the source is!!!!

This album is so much better than any of the other British "alternative" album around at the moment (ie Gene, Oasis and, im sad to sad Stone Roses "second coming"). "The Power" is the choice pick on the album

this album is indeed great but i still like the self-titled debut better. the suede sound is intact though and flows on some of the best songs ever. i love their slow stuff!

hate to sound redundant, but this is my favorite album EVER...definately the most underrated band today (in the US ..in Britain they're Gods). In order to see just how good Brett Anderson is , just listen to "The Power" and try to imagine somebody else singing it.

There are only two albums I would call "perfect". This is one of them (the other one is Belly's "Star"). The first four songs should always be played in the right order and not be torn apart by the random play selector on your cd-player.

This is an amazing album. The Asphalt World is probably the best track on it.

A breathtaking masterpiece. One of those pieces of music (and the album should be listened to as one whole piece) that simply defies explination. Where the debut had a hot blend of glamour, sex, and rock, "Dog Man Star" goes beyond the carnal and the earthly. And the music... the arrangements, the songs themselves, are just amazing. There are few albums this special...

The ultimate 90's album, so great, so ambitious.

I agree with the fact that Dog Man Star is a much better album than Suede. My ever favorite track from Dog Man Star is, of course, 'The Asphalt World'. I believe it to be so sad and yet beautiful and everytime it finishes, I wish it were a bit longer. What else can I say? Let the music say the rest...

As good as the first album, but with a much bigger more expansive sound
