Comments for Sugar, Besides

If you like Sugar at all you must go out and find an early copy of this album. The live cd is a must for any Sugar fan.

Ouch, that track listing needs a bit of work. (Is there a better convention than this for double albums?) Only the first 17 tracks are on the regular CD. "Believe What You''re Saying" is the acoustic "Campfire Mix." On the 18-track live disc in the original release (look for a black CD spine with "2 CD" printed on it), corrected song titles are 26. Running Out of Time, 27. Frustration, 35. Explode and Make Up, and 36. The Slim. Tracks 15-17 on the regular CD are the same live recordings from Minneapolis as the corresponding tracks on the live disc. Finally, though the liner notes neglect to mention this, all copies of the regular CD include the "Gee Angel" video in QuickTime format. Now that that''s all out of the way, it should go without saying that this compilation is a must for Sugar fans. Lesser bands would be proud to have some of these tracks as their "Aysides."
The second CD of this album is no longer available. Itwas a limited edition bonus to the album, which is acollection of B-sides and unpublished songs.Sugar is:Bob Mould - vocals, guitarDavid Barbe - bass, vocalsMalcolm Travis - drums, vocals

If you can find the double CD, you're bloody lucky. If you missed the singles, Besides is for you. Mostly fantastic, work the price tag for killer live versions of The Slim and Explode and Make Up. Everything you love about Bob in two songs.
