Comments for Superchunk, Foolish

The ending of "Why do you have to put a date on ..." is one of the best guitar moments ever recorded. Whaterever tension, angst etc. was being felt (or just the love of the sound of the guitar) shines.

Foolish captures the feel of confusion so perfectly it's almost scary.

H E L P ! I'm in love with Laura Balanca. I want to cover her body (and her bass) with my wet kisses. Does anyone know where I can find her ?

Great record! Emotional, Exact, Rocking! A must have for any true lover of "underground" music. All around great album. From "Like a Fool" to "The First Part" to "Why do you have to put a date" the music never stops carrying you through this rollar coaster of pure raw emotion filled with angst, sarcasim (spelling?), and pain. The album fulfills all these traits, while still hanging on to the catchy riff- rock that''s made superchunk who they are.
Superchunk`s fifth CD finds their songwriting talent at its bestso far. With the break-up of front-man Mac and bassist Laura, there`s an added sense of tension and emotion inthe band that expresses itself through their songs._Foolish_ marks perhaps their most varied release to date, save perhaps their _Tossing Seeds_ singles collectionwhich is a little incohesive by its very nature. Although thereis an added mixture of slower, mellower songs, at otherpoints it`s the same old Superchunk. Maybe a little tiringif you`re not a fan, but they have yet to make a disappointingin my book. However this is one of their best, if not their best, releases to date. This release demonstrates that there still are great bandswho seem to get incrementally better with age, experience, and maturity. Not an easy trick for a band on an independentlabel -- in a genre where the threat of becoming too popular, and thus being labelled a "sell-out", is often the harsh andunjustified norm among their fans (and ex-fans).
