Comments for The Smiths, Strangeways, Here We Come

Probably the most underestimated album by the Smiths. Give it a chance!

Strangeways is a very remarkable album. Take into consideration the fact that when this album was released in mid 1987, the rift between Morrissey and Johnny Marr was already visible. This was the last album The Smiths released. It does, however, contain very good songs (even though it is less than 40 minutes). Girlfriend in a Coma was a pop success for a while if memory serves me correctly.

Some Smith's fans knock this album, but I think those people are just pissed that it's the last one, like the two-headed love child of two cousins or something. This is classic Smiths material that must be listened to.

My first reaction after listening to this album - why did they have to break up? Some bands probably stay together longer than they should, but the music and the lyrics are in top form here, with alot of variety. "I Won't Share You" is absolutely gorgeous!

An underrated final album from the Smiths. "Girlfriend In A Coma" is classic pop, and "The Death Of A Disco Dancer" is one of their most moody, atmospheric recordings. The rest of the album is excellent as well. The only dissapointment here is that it would be their final release as a group...
